•Program Overview

Networking specialists can work in a wide variety of jobs. Students in the networking program work with both Novell and NT networks. Students will be trained in hardware configuration, installation of the file server, the configuration of the workstations, the set-up of print servers and network printers, network management, wiring of the network, and design and set-up of routers. Training will also cover attaching to the Internet, constructing web pages, using the Internet for information, and using search engines. Students in this program are allowed to assist in the installation, maintenance, and support of the School’s network. This program also includes training for Cisco certification.

•Purpose

The purpose of the Computer Networking program is to provide educational opportunities to individuals that will enable them to obtain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to succeed in the field of computer information technology.

The diploma program is intended to produce graduates who are prepared for employment as computer networking specialists. Program graduates are to be competent in the technical areas of general computer terminology and concepts, system design and development, and computer networking.

With companies networking in order to share resources and reduce expenses, the networking specialist is an invaluable part of the new company structure.
