Mission

The mission of the Northeast Kansas Technical College Foundation, Inc. is to undertake activities that will create physical, financial, and human resources to be used for the enhancement of Northeast Kansas Technical College.

Activities

Northeast Kansas Technical College and the Foundation need your support. Technical education is feeling the pressure of business and industry needs for a more educated and skilled workforce. Through private gifts, the NEKTC Foundation will ensure that Northeast Kansas Technical College has the resources necessary to address current and future needs. You may make outright gifts or deferred gifts and indicate whether your gift is for immediate use or establish a permanent endowment. Ways of giving are as follows:

· ENDOWMENTS:
Donors who wish to invest in the long-term goals of the College and have their gifts stay intact can create an endowment. Many programs, projects and scholarships are funded through endowments. That means that the principal is invested and only the investment earnings are spent annually to fund a particular project, program or scholarship.

· CASH:
Gifts in the form of cash are always welcome. Checks may be made payable to: Northeast Kansas Technical College Foundation, Inc.

· IN-KIND GIFTS
Northeast Kansas Technical College welcomes gifts of equipment, books, software, etc.; which can be put to good use by instructors and students. Donors should contact the Foundation to learn whether the proposed non-cash contribution would be appropriate for the College.

· SECURITIES:
Stocks and bonds that have increased in value are excellent ways of giving. The donor receives a tax deduction based on the value of the securities at the time of the gift and does not have to pay capital gains.

· REAL ESTATE:
Appreciated property is a good way to make a gift because the value of the gift is deductible and the donor's profit will not be taxable as a capital gain.

· LIFE INSURANCE:
The cash surrender value of a life insurance policy is immediately tax deductible, and later gifts made to pay the premiums when NEKTC is the irrevocable owner and beneficiary will also be deductible. You may also name the Northeast Kansas Technical College Foundation, Inc. as the first, second, or last beneficiary of an insurance policy.

· RETIREMENT:
Name the Northeast Kansas Technical College Foundation, Inc. first, second, or last beneficiary of a retirement plan: 401-K plans, SEP's, KEOG's, IRA's, or tax-sheltered annuities. You may also use a retirement plan to fund a charitable remainder trust.

· TRUSTS AND ANNUITIES:
Cash, marketable securities, retirement plans, or real property may be used to establish a charitable trust or annuity from which the donor would receive income for life. Upon his or her death, the assets would go to the Northeast Kansas Technical College Foundation, Inc.

· BEQUESTS:
Gifts willed to the Northeast Kansas Technical College Foundation, Inc. are of mutual benefit to the Foundation and to the donor.
